The Suqian Mingfengtuan Park renovation project transforms a privately occupied and underutilized former fish pond on the west bank of the Old Yellow River into a vibrant waterfront park, reconnecting it with the city. The design respects the site’s natural conditions, preserving the existing waterbody and applying a “super levee” approach by relocating the flood control embankment closer to the city road, creating a breathable, ecologically friendly riverbank.

The project restores the relationship between the Old Yellow River and the urban fabric, redefining the river’s interface with the city. It establishes a harmonious blue-green infrastructure and lays the foundation for deeper integration of landscape and ecology. The river becomes the central axis, linking open riverside spaces more closely with the Old Yellow River and activating the riverfront through diverse recreational uses.

Beyond beautification, the planting strategy enhances the site’s ecological performance, emphasizing habitat restoration and biodiversity rather than decorative landscaping alone.
