Located at the intersection of Metasequoia Road and Xiao Yelin Road and adjacent to the First Activity Center, the Zonghe Lecture Building houses the 568-seat Shin-Liang Chien Memorial Hall.
The design goal of the Zonghe Lecture Building is to provide digital and lifestyle-oriented teaching facilities that maximize learning outcomes. Spatially, the building responds to the Student Activity Center and the Chen Wen-Chen Memorial Plaza to the south, creating an integrated and connected environment. To address the shortage of space, 1.2 million volumes from the library have been relocated to an automated high-density storage facility in the building’s basement.
Following the planning principles of the NTU campus, the building is set back from Metasequoia Road to the north and Xiao Yelin Road to the west. The Shin-Liang Chien Memorial Hall is elevated one floor, forming a north-south passage that links the College of Engineering’s entrance plaza to the Chen Wen-Chen Memorial Plaza. The forecourt recreates the image of the historical Liugong Canal, presenting a spatial aesthetic grounded in ecological concepts.
