The International Agricultural Research Center is a multifunctional building that integrates administration, teaching, research, and incubation. Located at the northeastern edge of the campus, the building is highly visible from outside the university. Floors eight and nine house a privately operated incubation center, with several companies currently in residence.

The design concept of the building includes the following key aspects:

  • Aligning with the existing campus fabric, the building shapes a courtyard space along Coconut Avenue. The ground floor features multiple entry points: the north entrance—facing the intersection of Xingda and Guoguang Roads—serves as the main gateway from outside the campus, while the south entrance connects with the university’s internal circulation.
  • Layout decisions were guided by the preservation of protected trees, with a planted courtyard incorporated into the northeast lobby.
  • The interior planning emphasizes flexibility and passive energy-saving strategies. Modular dimensions were used to optimize circulation and shorten corridor lengths, enhancing natural ventilation and daylighting.

The façade treatment varies according to the function and environmental needs of the interior spaces, using different materials, construction methods, and layered skins to articulate the building’s expression and ensure a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments.
